The Mountaineers are a family oriented club, organized in 1965, to promote and enjoy the recreation of four wheeling. Four wheeling involves driving a four wheel drive vehicle on roads and trails which are impassable to normal street vehicles. It's often referred to as " off-roading ," but in most cases we use marked "roads" in order to protect the areas through which we travel. occasionally we play "off-road" on designated sand dunes or ice where it is a bit tough to "stay on the trail" since there is none.

Unlike the images portrayed by mass media and environmental groups, we are concerned with conserving the natural beauty of the State of Colorado and anywhere we four wheel. We believe strongly in the principles of Tread Lightly! We also participate in both the Adopt-a-Trail and the Adopt-A-Highway programs. We work closely with the US Forest Service in maintaining trails, many of our members participate in the Trail Host program. We assist our community, Fort Collins, Colorado, by providing transportation during severe winter weather for employees and some patients of "critical need" groups like Poudre Valley Hospital, Good Samaritan Retirement Village and Meals-On-Wheels and by assisting groups like the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army in transporting supplies and the like to and from remote areas during crises.

Jeep brand resale value improves for 2010 as industry average declines

Drivers, remote-start your engines!

More and more Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram customers are adding the ultra-convenient Remote Start feature to their vehicles. In 2009, Mopar sales for Remote Start are up 20 percent. Nearly 90 percent of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles are available with Remote Start.

Those customers who want to add the feature after purchase, or who buy a used vehicle without Remote Start, will turn to Mopar for the feature. "Remote Start is becoming less of a luxury and more of a necessity," said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer, Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care. "As we head into winter and the holiday gift-giving season, we expect even more of our customers to warm up to Remote Start."

Drivers with Remote Start may start their vehicle from up to 300 feet away, allowing the engine to warm up and the interior of the vehicle to heat or cool based on the pre-set temperature. The engine will stay on for 10 minutes and will shut off if a key is not inserted into the ignition. Unlike other aftermarket offerings, Mopar's Remote Start system utilizes proven, quality-tested factory components and is seamlessly integrated into the vehicle without any splicing or cutting of existing wires. In addition, Mopar integrates and combines the function into one key fob, eliminating the need for excess fobs.

Remote Start is fully covered under the vehicle's bumper-to-bumper new-vehicle warranty or Mopar's 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, whichever is most advantageous to the customer. Remote Start is available on 2008-2010 model-year Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram vehicles. Depending on the vehicle, the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) ranges from $235 to $299, plus installation. The installation process takes approximately one hour and may be done at any Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram store.

The 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee is an ideal vehicle for buyers who want an off-road sport-utility vehicle with a range of engine options, and is equally agile on pavement. The Jeep Grand Cherokee seats five-passengers, and comes in four trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland and SRT8. All trim levels come with either two or four wheel drive; the SRT8 is all-wheel drive only.
The Grand Cherokee Laredo is equipped with a 3.7-liter V6 that delivers 210 hp and 235 pound-feet of torque. EPA estimates mileage at 15 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. A 4.7-liter V8 engine rated at 305 hp and 335 lb-ft of torque, standard on the Limited and optional on the Laredo, achieves fuel economy of 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. A 5.7-liter "Hemi" V8 that produces 330 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque is standard on the Overland and optional on 4WD Limited models. This engine features cylinder-deactivation to achieve fuel economy of 13/18 mpg (city/highway). All trims get an optional 3.0-liter common-rail diesel V6 engine good for 215 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque, achieves fuel economy of 17/22 mpg (city/highway). A five-speed automatic transmission is standard.
The Laredo comes well equipped with a CD stereo with an auxiliary audio jack and satellite radio, power accessories, air-conditioning, a power driver seat, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a trip computer and 17-inch wheels. The Limited, the Overland and the Grand Cherokee SRT8 add upscale levels of equipment.
Safety features include standard side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes and stability control. The 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a five-star rating in government front and side-impact crash tests.

There are very few vehicles that can match the performance or driving fun of a Jeep Wrangler off-road. The Wrangler was redesigned for the 2007 model year, when a four-door version - Wrangler Unlimited joined the lineup. The four-door version added practicality, offering more convenience, more cargo and rear seat space.
